Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football with volunteering for the community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. Second football he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award as the best lineman in the country. During his three-year tenure as Oklahoma's starting quarterback The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and captured two national titles. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week while he attended college. After graduating, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing with the Buccaneers. 3 times, he was named an All-Pro. Then he began his business career. The first job he had was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youngsters of the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as player, commanded his team during the season of 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
