Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. She created Feminist Frequency the site that features videos and comments discussing the depictions of females in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as blogger. Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that investigates representations of women in narratives from popular culture. She is committed to deconstructing stereotypes about women and how they are portrayed in popular media. Furthermore, she works to raise the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women, and other the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian, who has the degree of Master's in the field of Social and Political Thinking at York University, is a popular public speaking. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival and the United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Passionate about issues of gender identity and feminism from at an early age, she created her site Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was she was still at university. She had a plan to create an online series that examined gender representation in games, and was then the victim of an online campaign to harass her.
